It&#8217;s based on the Canadian Inuit inukshuk, a stone marker used for centuries by the Inuit to help guide them through the northern Arctic terrain. The inukshuk has also become a symbol of leadership, cooperation, friendship, and the human spirit. The contemporary Olympics logo design was chosen from 1,600 entries from Canada by an intenational panel of nine judges.</p>
